Microsoft Releases Camera Codec Pack
Even been annoyed that your cameras RAW files didn’t show previews like other file types did when viewing them in Windows Explorer on Windows Vista or 7. Instead of being able to see the files and pick out the one I wanted to work on all I got was a bunch of generic icons for my Canon .CR2 files. Well have no fear because Microsoft has your back, it just took them a few years to catch up that’s all. Earlier this week Microsoft released the Camera Codec Pack for Windows Vista and Windows 7 which “enables the viewing of a variety of device-specific file formats“.
Now instead of no thumbnail previews for my folder after folder of RAW files, I get the nice little previews I’ve always wanted.
You can find the download as well as the supported devices on the Microsoft Download Page here.
