Which Manfrotto tripod please?

Which is the better tripod?

  1. Be free

  2. Manfrotto 190 Aluminium 3 Section Tripod with Horizontal Column

  1. I am in the process of replacing my Hama tripod and I don't know if I should go for the Manfrotto be free or the Manfrotto 190 Aluminium 3 Section Tripod with Horizontal Column?

I was going to part exchange my Hama, but I am not sure if I should keep it because the Manfrotto 190 Aluminium 3 Section Tripod is a bit heavier to carry about. Can you advise me please?
  2. I guess it all depends on what you want it for. Travel tripods like the Befree are great and compact but my experience with them is what they sacrifice in size, they also sacrifice in stability. If you're talking about taking long exposures and needing support in challenging conditions then perhaps the bigger tripod would be better. If you want an all-rounder that is very portable / easy to carry around etc. then I'm sure the Befree would be fine.

Personally, I have a travel tripod and a full size tripod but given the choice, I always go for the bigger one first so I've voted for the 190 if that helps? I think I've understand the 2 different products. If not, then ignore me - I'm probably talking b****cks :)
  3. does it have to be a manfrotto tripod? what andy says is true all depends on what you want to do with it.
  4. sling it on the back of my bike and take it outdoors.
  5. In that case I'd go for the BeFree for the portability factor
    Adam likes this.
  6. Going to sell my old one, how much do you think the asking price should be please?
  7. Depends in the model really. Did you say it was a Hama? Some if their range has practically no resale value.

For example I have a Hama (or a derivative of) tripod that's practically made of paper and can be bought new for about £20 so I didn't bother selling it.
