Hello from Los Angeles California

  1. Hi everyone! My name is Neil Waybright (@neilwaybright on IG and twitter, https://www.flickr.com/photos/neilwaybright/) and I am a photographer in the Los Angeles area. I enjoy portrait, event, and street photography, but do almost any other kind on a dare, or as needed. I bought my first camera in the late 1960s, but didn't get to be a serious photographer until I joined the Navy and attended Collateral Duty Intel Photography school in San Diego. I shot whatever the Navy gave me in that work, but purchased Minolta cameras myself and still have my X-700 I bought new in Japan (though I pined for a Nikon F3 and a Hasselblad 500c). After I left the service, I shot less and less until I found digital photography in the late 1990s. I went digital for more than a decade, but got my Minolta back out in 2012 after finding the Film Photography Podcast, then went on a tear buying and shooting film cameras including a Nikon F3 and Nikon F5, a Hasselblad 501cm, Mamiya RB-67 Pro SD, Olympus OM-2n, and several point and shoot cameras. I still shoot digital regularly, including Fujifilm X-T2, Nikon D800e, Olympus OM-D E-M5 mk ii. My latest acquisition is a Fujifilm GF670 folding range-finder (one of the small batch of GF670s found brand-new, sealed, in-box, in the B&H warehouse in NYC). I have home-developed my own black and white (but I hate scanning), and recently gave away all of my home developing gear to a friend who wanted to learn how to do this (he experiments a lot and he uses it more than I did).

I am looking forward to meeting more of you on the forums.

    Thanks,

    Neil
