Another Issue...?

  1. Whilst I'm posting images that are s***...any ideas on the issues with these? (apologies for the screen grabs but they do the job...)

Getting pretty fecked off now that my work is going belly up as soon as I start developing my own...!
  2. Do you mean the watermarks, smears and so forth? Are the negs themselves clean and properly dry?

If so, I would guess at either poor agitation during development, or the film getting a bit stuck when you were loading the reel meaning that the chemicals haven't been in even contact with the film.
  3. Yes Iain. They were watermarked when they dried so I cleaned them with lighter fluid. The vertical lines through them don't seem to be smears though...could that be agitation?

  4. The vertical lines look like inconsistent development to me. What are you doing in terms of agitation?
  5. Invert continuously for first 15, then once every 30 seconds.

  6. When you invert, do you do a little twisty motion too? I turn the tank upside down, rotate it about half a circle and then turn back. Another thing is, if you have a tank which takes more than one film it's best to put empty reels in to make up the rest of the space, I had a few ropey films before I started doing that. It happens sometimes though, unfortunately.
  7. I tend to just turn upside down....
And I have a few tanks of different sizes so it end to just use the one that fits the amount of reels that I'm doing

  8. Did you get lighterfluid on the emulsion side? That might cause some of the issues, and I lighter fluid may leave behind some residue that could be causing the rainbow whirls and irregular blobs. I clean water spots with a bit of breath and a lint free cloth: just a sharp exhale, a quick wipe, and it's done.

I've not seen vertical lines like that. I sometimes get vertical bars that match up with the sprocket holes from overly vigorous agitation, but the lines in yours don't look to match the sprocket holes.
